More than 40 nurses from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) recently graduated, after successfully completing a Paediatric Nurses Development Course. The course was made possible through collaboration between GPHC and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

According to JICA’s Volunteer Lecturer, Ms. Sumiko Yoshida, who has been stationed at the hospital for over four years, the goal of having the project implemented at GPHC was to improve nursing services and raise the quality of care offered at the facility. The programme was based on three principles. “These included the realisation of a child friendly environment, improvement of the education environment, and development of education programmes,” Yoshida explained. How much longer must I stand on the picket line and protest?” These were the searching questions asked by Nathalie Caseley who is convinced that enough is still not being done to ensure that justice for her son is realized. Caseley was the mother of four-year-old Jaden Mars who passed away at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in December 2013. A really, really big bang not due for a hundred millennia may help astronomers test one of the central theories of physics, according to one of the authors of a new paper. Two black holes in Virgo are heading for a “massive collision,” Columbia University astronomer Zoltan Haiman said in a Columbia news release posted on Science Daily. Haiman is co-author of a paper in the journal Nature examining flashes coming from a quasar. The flashes, according to Haiman and his co-authors, Columbia’s Daniel D’Orazio and David Schiminovich, are originating from a pair of black holes orbiting each other in quasar PG 1302-102, about 3.5 billion light-years away. The two black holes are about a light-week or two apart — less than 200 billion miles. That’s far closer than Earth is to its next nearest star, Proxima Centauri, which is more than 4 light-years (24 trillion miles) from our planet. (CNN/photo: cnn.com)…[+]
