6 illegal immigrants arrested on Suriname River: Cocaine pellets seized

PARAMARIBO – The navy and the coastguard on Monday carried out Operation Sparimakka on the Suriname River and managed to intercept and arrest 6 illegal immigrants who have the Guyanese nationality. Police Inspector John Soerohardjo told Times of Suriname that during this operation all of the vessels that entered and exited the Suriname River were inspected. Five of the six illegal immigrants will reportedly be deported. One of the illegal Guyanese men was in possession of about 20 cocaine pellets and was therefore taken into police custody.
