PARAMARIBO – Three brothers were recently arrested on a rape charge. The suspects allegedly raped a 24-year-old woman in the vicinity of the Paramaribo Zoo. 19-year-old K.S., 23-year-old F.S. and 30-year-old A.S. were tracked down before being arrested by the police. “The police are currently trying to find out if other women have also been raped according to the same modus operandi by these suspects,” Police Commissioner Bryan Isaacs told Times of Suriname.

Last Monday the police received a call about a woman who had been raped by three men behind the zoo. The woman who is a commercial sex worker was approached by a man who wanted to know how much she charged for her services. After she had mentioned her fee, he asked her to get into his car. The client and his two brothers then proceeded to sexually assault the woman for three hours. After the police had arrived on the scene, the woman was rushed to the Emergency Room. The three suspects are currently in jail awaiting trial.
