Parmessar: “Political chaos in the government is visible”

PARAMARIBO – “Deputy ministers are assigned to the ministries that are run by ministers from the ABOP so that the VHP can keep an eye on them,” said MP Rabindre Parmessar who is a member of the National Democratic Party (NDP). The legislator from the opposition pointed out that the political chaos within the government is visible to everyone.”

MP Parmessar told Times of Suriname that six months before the general elections deputy ministers are being appointed by the VHP, to keep the ministries that are run by the ABOP under control. “This creates the impression that there is no trust in the coalition partner. It is noticeable that no deputy ministers are assigned to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.

The political games that are played are tolerated at the highest level. What is the task of the deputy ministers? Are the ministers still pulling the strings at the ministries where the deputy ministers have set up shop?”  MP Parmessar claimed that for the past four and a half years the administration of President Chandrikapersad Santokhi has created the impression that everything is going well in the country while there is in fact political chaos.
