The Office of the President on Monday donated 30 bags of rice to Huize Ashiana. Each bag reportedly contained 25 kilograms of rice. It also implemented supporting measures in association with the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Agriculture, Stockbreeding and Fisheries (LVV). The Public Green and Waste Disposal Department also collected all of the garbage at the retirement home prior to the donation. Last  Tuesday a clean-up took place in the garden of  Huize Ashiana. LVV will also plant vegetables for the senior citizens in the garden of this retirement home so that they do not have to be dependent on vegetables from outsiders.

President Chandrikapersad Santokhi had already donated food products to Huize Ashiana when he visited this retirement home on December 23rd. After his visit he also donated a brush cutter and a washing machine.
