Several NVB bus drivers on strike
People who rely on the buses from the National Transportation Company (NVB) were left stranded on Sunday as the state buses that provide affordable transportation did not show up. They found out that several bus owners who work for the NVB decided to go on strike because they haven’t received their money. The bus owners deem it unacceptable that they have to go on strike every time to compel the government to pay them.
“The minister of Transport, Communications and Tourism (TCT) makes sure that he gets his salary on time every month but we are repeatedly told that our money still has not been wired,” said the bus owners. Several bus owners pointed out that they had presented a petition to the president and that they were promised that everything would be fine but things are still the same. They made it clear that they also have bills to pay and that some of them still have to pay the dealership where they bought their bus.
