The Surinamese Red Cross (SRK) reportedly has more than 6,000 blood donors. This means that Suriname is one of the few countries in the region where blood is donated voluntarily 100% to the Blood Bank by blood donors. World Blood Donor Day 2015 is celebrated on 14 June each year.
