Women dominate judiciary

SURINAME – The judiciary currently has 14 female and 5 male judges. Five substitutes namely Rewita Chatterpal, Daniëlle Karamatali, Marie Mettendaf, Sieglien Wijnhard and  Maytrie Kuldipsingh were sworn in as new members of the Court of Justice on Thursday.  President Desi Bouterse also swore in Jane Jensen, Audrey Nooitmeer-Rotsburg, Ishwarpersdad Sonai, Sabritie Nanhoe and  Sylvana Bradley as the new substitutes.
