Bordo to be extradited to France

Joel Martinus, alias Bordo, has often asked his attorney to make sure that he is not extradited to France but recent reports indicate that this will in fact happen. He was arrested last year in neighbouring Brazil by the federal police. The Public Prosecutor’s Office recently received information via diplomatic channels about the response of the Brazilian authorities to the extradition request from Suriname. The French authorities had also requested the extradition of  Joel Martinus.

Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court on December 6 unanimously decided to extradite Bordo to France. On December 9, Suriname’s extradition request was denied. In 2019 Bordo was found guilty in absentia by a French court. He was sentenced to prison for recruiting drug traffickers. Surinamese investigators suspect  Bordo, along with Clifton J., Ramesh P. Prashant P.

and Albert G. in a drug trafficking case. Bordo is also suspected of being involved in the disappearance of Ramrag Ramnauth, the operator of an excavator.
