Parliament will soon hold a session to elect the nation’s president and vice president. Given the current state of affairs Desi Bouterse (NDP) will be reelected president for a second term. The progressive Reform Party (VHP) and the National Party Suriname  (NPS) from the opposition reportedly will not present rival candidates.
