The State Oil Company Suriname (Staatsolie) on Monday issued a press release, announcing that it has put the Ethanol and Sugar Project in Wageningen, Nickerie on hold until further notice. Staatsolie has reached this decision in light of the drop in oil prices on the world market and because it also has not found the right agrarian partner yet. The strong drop in oil prices has compelled Staatsolie and many other oil producers from around the world to evaluate their expenses and adjust their investment programs.
