Homeless people have food until second week of February

The homeless people who have been given shelter at the Regional Hospital Wanica (RZW) will reportedly run out of food in the second week of February. One of the nurses told Times of Suriname that while most people enjoyed delicious meals on Christmas, the homeless people could not. Thanks to the helping hand of donors such as Stichting 1 voor 12 the homeless people received Christmas bread and tasty food. The nurses often pitch in but this has become increasingly difficult especially if they do not get any donations. They made it clear that it is awful to arrive to work and to have no food to cook for the ‘patients’. The nurses made it clear that they can’t cook the same thing every day. “We can’t keep cooking brown beans because the homeless people also need vegetables and fish,” said the nurses who disapproved of the fact that they have been abandoned by the government. The nurses pointed out that they are dependent on donations from donors. They also pointed out that even the homeless people are entitled to good and healthy food.
