Jennifer Geerlings-Simons and  Melvin Bouva got the majority of votes during the election of chairmanship and deputy chairmanship of Parliament. André Misiekaba presented them as candidates on behalf of the National Democratic Party (NDP). The Opposition presented  Krishna Husainali-Mathoera (VHP) as rival candidate for the chairmanship and  Martinus Bee (ABOP) as rival candidate for the deputy chairmanship.
