A 30-year-old man in Brooklyn is in critical condition after being shot during a cookout late Saturday, witnesses and police said.

The victim was shot once in the chest outside an apartment building on Chauncey St. near Utica Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant just before 12 a.m., police said. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he’s in critical condition, police said. A witness who declined to give his name said he saw people running on Chauncey St. after a shot was fired. The cookout was winding down, he added. At the scene, police were looking at a grill, possibly for a weapon. Plastic plates and cups were found on the ground.
