Sophia couple arrested after AK-47, ammo, drugs found
A Sophia couple was arrested on Sunday evening after an hours-long operation by the police unearthed a quantity of illegal items including an AK-47 assault rifle.
The police in a press release yesterday said that the six-hour operation commenced around 10.30pm on Sunday.
It was carried out by ranks stationed at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters under the command of a Superintendent in North Sophia.
During the intelligence-led operation, a quantity of local and foreign currencies, two unlicensed firearms; an AK-47 assault rifle and a pistol, 62 rounds of live ammunition and more than 32 kilograms of suspected cannabis were found.(Stabroek News)…[+]
