Many state employees are furious over the fact that they haven’t received their wages for May. Faisel Feller told Times of Suriname that nobody had informed him beforehand that he would not get his salary at the end of May. Some of the state employees explained that they were in the hinterland and that they therefore could not travel all the way to Paramaribo for the registration. “It is an expensive two way trip to Paramaribo and back so we opted for the online registration. But we never received a confirmation email after we had filled in all of the documents on the internet. Why didn’t the various ministries inform their employees of the fact that the wages of those who failed to get registered would be frozen?”…[+]
