A man was recently arrested on an attempted rape charge. Reports indicate that
A.O. who is also known as Rediman was taken into police custody last Sunday by
officers from the Lelydorp Police Department. The suspect who has a criminal
record tried to rape a woman on November 30th. He pulled the woman to a small
space between a building and a restaurant located along the Indira Gandhiweg.
Bystanders who witnessed the assault rushed to the woman’s aid but the suspect
managed to flee the scene on foot. They then notified the police. A police unit went
looking for the suspect after the bystanders had given a description of him. The
suspect was caught and arrested at a bus stop before he was taken to the police
station. He is currently in jail awaiting trial.
