Thirty motorcycles confiscated
SURINAME – Police officers from the Lelydorp Police Department on Friday night confiscated thirty motorcycles which belong to illegal street racers. The motorcycles have reportedly been modified so that they can go faster and make a lot of noise.
The police operation was led by Inspector Hemantkoemar Sardjoe. A police unit on Friday night patrolled the streets from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. The police operation was carried out in response to many complaints from local residents. The residents also complained that spectators litter the streets during these illegal street races. The District Comissioner of Wanica, Roline Samsoedien, pointed out that her office has also received numerous complaints about the noise that is being produced during these illegal street races.
