(Trinidad Guardian) Five female Special Reserve Police Officers and a senior superintendent of police are among seven police officers arrested by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau for mischief in public office.
Information reaching the Guardian Media confirmed that the officers were arrested after a vigorous investigation into allegations of fraudulent conduct involving extra duty where a revenue clerk was allegedly accommodating spruced up claims from officers over the Christmas 2018 and Carnival 2019 seasons. The officers, who are all assigned to the Traffic Branch in Port-of-Spain, were arrested between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and are being housed in different police stations along the east/west corridor, including Besson Street, Morvant, Barataria, San Juan and the St Joseph Police Stations.
Representing attorneys for the respective officers include Pamela Elder SC, Ian Brooks, Brent Winter, Terry Boyer and Fareed Ali, who were said to be with their respective clients up until late Wednesday night. PC Joefield is the lead investigator in the case. One officer was formally interviewed on Wednesday and the other interviews are expected to continue Thursday.(Trinidad Guardian)…[+]
