Woman and husband found dead in apparent murder-suicide shooting

PARAMARIBO – A 45-year-old woman and her 56-year–old husband were found dead at their home located in Koewarasan last Tuesday. Police officers from the Santo Boma Police Department rushed to the scene after having received a call about an apparent murder-suicide. A.S. reportedly shot his wife, S.S., dead with his hunting rifle before taking his own life with the same weapon.

When police officers arrived at the couple’s house located in the Merveilleweg they found two bodies. The woman’s body was found in the bathroom with a gunshot wound in her abdominal region. The body of the woman’s husband was found on the same premises with a gunshot wound in the chest. The hunting rifle and the bullets were found near the man’s body.

The woman and her husband have four children. Their 18-year-old son is the only child who still lives at their house. When the son returned home, he spotted his father on the floor in front of the house. He thought that his father was under the influence of alcohol but when he tried to wake him up, he realized that his body was stiff so he ran to his relatives who live on the same  premises before notifying the police. Both bodies were taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. …[+]
