Woman assaulted by ex boyfriend and his cousins

A woman was assaulted by her ex boyfriend and several of his cousins in the Bhagwandeiweg on Friday. She went to the house of her ex boyfriend around half past one in the afternoon to get her passport. Sources told Times of Suriname that the woman who was acting suspiciously outside the building was spotted by one of her ex boyfriend’s cousins who also lives there. The woman ran away before jumping into a ditch and hiding in the bushes located next to the building. The ex boyfriend and several of his cousins pulled her out of the bushes and started assaulting her. Sources told Times of Suriname that the assailants were armed with objects which they used to hit the victim. The woman sustained head injuries but she was also injured in her arms. After the police arrived on the scene, the woman was put in an ambulance and taken to the Emergency Room. The woman had been arrested in the past and charged with arson. She had evidently set fire to three apartments of her ex boyfriend. All three apartments were destroyed by the fire. The ex boyfriend therefore asked the court for a restraining order against his ex girlfriend. He was granted the restraining order which she ignored last Friday.
