VIRGIN ISLANDS – A 24-year-old woman was shot dead Yesterday in the US Virgin Islands. Police reported Indierra Morales was in a car on King Street, Fredriksted just after 12:55 am when a gunman walked up to the vehicle and shot her multiple times. Morales was transported to the Juan F Luis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by the Emergency Room attending physician. She is the territory’s 22nd murder victim for 2024.

Shortly after the incident, police began their search for the gunman who was described as a light-skinned African male. The suspect was wearing a grey hoodie and long dark jeans pants. He also had a low afro. Police later detained 22-year-old Rosnel Diaz-Bautista in connection with the crime. Diaz-Bautista was detained and transported to the Wilbur Francis Command, where he was placed under arrest and charged with murder in the first degree. His bail was set at $1 million.
