SURINAME – Sixteen youths have been arrested within one week. Public Defender Reshma Garib told Times of Suriname that the youths were arrested on charges of robbery and assault. In one of the cases one youth was killed while another was injured. The public defender therefore expressed her concern regarding the public acts of violence. She is urging parents and guardians to keep an eye on their kids and their behavior.
