Police force to enable citizens to press charges online

Hinterland residents want police to tackle crime

PARAMARIBO – “In 2025 it will be possible for people to press charges online. The launch could be in January,” said Justice and Police Minister Kenneth Amoksi. This project is part of the efforts to improve the efficiency and collaboration within the legal system. During a meeting that took place last Thursday the digitalization of operational and administrative procedures within the legal system was discussed by top police officials and representatives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

 Minister Amoksi emphasized the importance of making it possible for citizens to press charges online. He also announced the launch of a pilot project. “In November we will launch a pilot project in Paramaribo and Wanica. As soon as we have addressed the hiccups, the entire nation will be able to press charges digitally in January or February 2025,” said Minister Amoksi.
