DC Lewis urges citizens not to hand over land documents

PARAMARIBO – District Commissioner Josta Lewis who runs Kabalebo recently warned the residents of her jurisdiction not to hand over their land documents to strangers. She explained that people who claim to be from the ABOP are going door to door to ask the residents to hand over their land documents so that they could take care of them. DC Lewis made it clear that “this is not the official procedure.” “This is happening without the approval of the DC’s Office which means that I cannot be held accountable if something goes wrong. Citizens who hand over their documents to these people and who later come across many problems will have to solve these problems on their own. They should considered themselves warned,” said DC Lewis who added that whenever  citizens want request land, they must turn to the DC’s Office for advice. District Secretary Vanek Ramdyal is in charge of land affairs in Kabalebo.
