Former US Embassy employee arrested for threatening email
GUYANA – A former contracted employee of the United States Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana, has been arrested for sending a threatening email to the embassy. Anand Persaud, a 31-year-old resident of Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara, was taken into police custody following his arrest.
The incident came to light when the US Embassy received an alarming email on July 25. According to officials, the message “contained threats directed towards United States Government personnel and the Embassy’s Georgetown facility.”
