Man and child found dead in car with gunshot wounds

ST KITTS – Two individuals, including a young child, were discovered dead in a vehicle near Newton Ground Bay, St Kitts. The bodies were found on Friday morning, prompting an immediate police investigation into what appears to be a double homicide.

The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Devon Parris from Stoney Grove, Nevis, and 9-year-old J’Marni Smithen from Craddock Road, Nevis. According to police reports, both victims were found with “apparent gunshot wounds to their heads” inside a red Honda Fit.

Preliminary investigations reveal a disturbing timeline. The victims reportedly left a family member’s residence around 4:00 pm on August 1, intending to attend a birthday celebration at the Caribbean Cinema. They never reached their destination.

“Calls to Devon’s cell phone went unanswered,” a police report noted. The find was made by a local resident. The police statement described, “On the morning of 2nd August, a concerned citizen in the Newton Ground area, near the sea, noticed the vehicle in some bushes facing south and observed the lifeless bodies inside.”

The District Medical Officer, arrived at the scene and officially pronounced both individuals deceased at approximately 11:10 am.
