PARAMARIBO – A woman who was recently robbed of SRD 35,000 told the police that she works in a sports betting shop and that she had put the proceeds of last Sunday namely SRD 37,000 in her bag before returning home. When she was on her way to work the next day, a man who was dressed in blue pants pulled her t-shirt from behind so the woman offered resistance. The man then pulled out an object which he held against her stomach region so she stopped resisting. He told her to hand over her bag and fled the scene with it. A passersby rushed to the woman’s aid and managed to reclaim the bag but when the woman looked inside the bag, she realized that SRD 35,000 was missing. The investigation is ongoing.
