PARAMARIBO – President Chandrikapersad Santokhi on Tuesday announced that the general elections will be held on Sunday, May 25th 2025. He also pointed out that it would be a historic moment because the elections will take place according to a new election system.  According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (BIZA), the new election system is aimed at making sure that each vote counts. All of the political parties regardless of their size will get a fair chance to participate in the elections in order to get a chance of being represented in parliament.
