ABOP: “Bridge between Suriname and Guyana not a priority”

PARAMARIBO – The ABOP recently made it clear that the construction of a bridge between Suriname and neighbouring Guyana should not be prioritised at the moment.  Marinus Cambiel, deputy chairman of the ABOP, made the party’s position on this matter clear at a rally of the party that was held in the Nickerie District. Cambiel explained that the government which the ABOP is a part of should first asphalt the streets. This was the first time that the ABOP has publicly expressed its opinion on the matter. Cambiel pointed out that the chairman of the ABOP, Ronnie Brunswijk, has made sure that the East-West Highway that connects Meerzorg with Albina was asphalted. He promised the Nickerie residents that the chairman would also make sure that the western section of this important road would be given an asphalt layer, if they vote for him. However we, these claims have raised many eyebrows because there is no hard evidence to support the claim that Brunswijk is directly responsible for having an asphalt layer places on the road that connects Meerzorg with Albina.
