About 26,000 people read lists of voters

PARAMARIBO – “Reports indicate that about 26,000 people read the lists of voters either in person or online in September to make sure that their information is correct,” the director of the Ministry of Home Affairs (BIZA), Nasier Eskak, told Times of Suriname. The period for granting access to these lists has been extended until December 15 because of the poor turnout. Less than 10% of the nation’s voters took the time to check out these lists.

 Eskak explained that the decision was made so that voters could have more time to double check everything. People who want to apply for a job at one of the polling stations have until mid-December to send their application.
