There is a huge task on the shoulders of Bronto Somohardjo as he is expected to reel in at least 50,000 votes for Pertjajah Luhur (PL). The chairman of the PL party, Paul Somohardjo, ...
strongly believes that his son who will most likely become the next leader of the PL will meet the expectations. He expects the PL party which currently has 1 parliamentary seat to rake in at least 4 parliamentary seats on Election Day, May 25th.
But Bronto is not the only one who has been given the task of expanding the party as all eyes are also on Uraiqit Ramsaran who is number 2 on the list of candidates from the PL. Uraiqit who is currently the nation’s minister of Transport, Communications and Tourism is deemed loyal and trustworthy by Chairman Somohardjo. “You can count on Qit,” said Somohardjo senior. Xiaboa Zheng who is on the third spot of the PL’s list of candidates is a newcomer as people know very little about him. He is reportedly the son of Filong Zheng, owner of several big firms in Suriname. Chairman Somohardjo claims that Xiaboa Zheng is popular within the Chinese community which is why he is expected to reel in at least 1 parliamentary seat. Andy Atmodimedjo who is on the fourth spot is known as a hard worker in the field. Evert Karto who is currently the PL’s only legislator takes the fifth spot on the list of candidates.
Paul Somohardjo strongly believes that Karto will be re-elected. One noticeable fact is the return of several prominent members of the PL who had exited the party several years ago. Dipakkoemar Chitan who had left with the seat of the PL in the Saramacca District has returned and is also on the list. Ajoeb Moentari who is also a former deserter has also come back to the PL and has also been given a spot on the list of candidates.
