The district commissioner of Coronie, Maikel Winter, recently urged the residents of the nation’s coconut district to refrain from dumping their garbage everywhere. Meanwhile DC Winter ...
is busy trying to come up with a structural solution for the garbage disposal issue. The contractor who is tasked with the garbage disposal in the Coronie District has stopped collecting garbage because he has not received payment for nearly two years. He has reportedly run out of funds to finance his operations and has therefore decided to call it quits. DC Winter explained that he understands why the contractor could no longer keep it up. “He has to pay his employees and he also has to cover maintenance costs and fuel from his own pocket.” Meanwhile another contractor has started collecting garbage from households but he demands cash payments from private residence s. He does not collect the garbage that is left outside of government buildings.
DC Winter wants the government to pay the old contractor so that he can resume his operations because one can't expect residents to keep waiting for the garbage truck outside their homes so that they can pay the garbage collector cash on the spot.
