The police on Sunday seized fuel, gas cylinders and cigarettes during an inspection of a retail store located in the Amerindian village of Washabo in Kabalebo.
Reports indicate that the police came across 200 liters of diesel, 650 liters of gasoline, dozens of gas cylinders and 90 boxes of cigarettes when the store of 49-year-old M.R. was inspected. 42-year-old W.R. the husband of M.R., was arrested after the police found an unregistered hunting rifle. The police also arrested the couple’s 27-year-old neighbour, M.S., for possession of an illegal hunting rifle. The suspects were released after they had paid a hefty fine as part of the out-of-court settlement.
