Last Saturday F.V. was arrested by a special police unit after he was spotted. He allegedly shot a 24-year-old man in one of his legs in a house located in the Albrecht Dürerstraat on January 19th.
After the shooting incident the suspect fled the scene and managed to evade capture for several weeks. When officers of the Regional Support Team (RBTP) patrolled the streets last Saturday, they spotted him driving a black car in the Anton Dragtenweg. The officers of the special police unit ordered him to pull over but their order fell on deaf ears as the suspect kept on driving and even tried to run the officers over with his car. The RBTP officers lost sight of the suspect but spotted his car again before cutting it off at the corner of the Grote Combéweg and the Mahonylaan. But when they approached the car, there was a 22-year-old woman, C.H., behind the steering wheel. The woman was arrested for aiding and abbeting the suspect. The police officers believed that the female suspect had dropped F.V. off after the chase so they went looking for him and eventually confronted him in the Crommelinstraat. F.V. initially resisted arrest but the officers managed to place him in handcuffs before handing him over to the detectives of the Paramaribo precinct. After the police officers had a serious talk with C.H., they decided to let her off with a warning. F.V. has been charged with attempted murder, attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault, violent theft and vandalism.
