Budget for elections 2025 rejected
With less than a year to go until Election Day, the government still does not know how much everything will actually cost. The Ministry of Home Affairs (Biza) has presented a budget of SRD 800 million. But President Chandrikapersad Santokhi made it clear that this budget is unacceptable and has instructed Biza to present a new budget. The Surinamese head of state explained that the upcoming elections must be cheaper than the previous one because less material will be used. “We will do everything to present a budget that is realistic,” said President Santokhi.
