Crossbow killings suspect found after attack on BBC journalist’s wife and daughters

LONDON – A man wanted in connection with the killings of three women on Tuesday evening – the wife and two daughters of a BBC journalist – has been found following a manhunt. Kyle Clifford, who police warned may have been armed with a crossbow, was found in the Enfield area of north London on Wednesday afternoon and is currently receiving treatment for injuries, Hertfordshire Police said in a statement.

“A man wanted in connection with a triple murder in Bushey has been traced to a location in North London. Following an extensive search, Kyle Clifford, aged 26, was found in the Enfield area by officers this afternoon (Wednesday, July 10),” the statement said. At this stage, we believe the suspect was known to the victims,” it added.

Police had earlier said they were searching for a 26-year-old man, named as Kyle Clifford, in connection with the deaths, who could be in the British capital or the neighboring county of Hertfordshire. Police were called to a house in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday evening, where they found three seriously injured women who later died from their wounds.

The victims of the triple killlings were identified as the wife, Carol Hunt, and two daughters, Hannah Hunt and Louise Hunt, of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, the UK’s public broadcaster said on Wednesday. Police said earlier that the deceased, ages 25, 28 and 61, were killed in what is believed to have been a “targeted incident.” A crossbow is believed to have been used in the triple killing, though police said Wednesday that other weapons may also have been used.

Clifford left the British army in 2022 after a short period of service, a source in the UK defense ministry told CNN. He first joined in 2019 and served in the Household Cavalry, his former military boss told CNN. (CNN)…[+]
