Dutch authorities search for relatives of Paro Ramlagan in Suriname
PARAMARIBO – The Dutch authorities are currently searching for the relatives of a dead woman in Suriname. Last Friday 38-year-old Paro Ramlagan was shot dead in Rijswijk by her 57-year-old neighbor. The Dutch authorities have already urged the relatives of the woman to contact them as soon as possible. Reports indicate that the Dutch authorities, the woman’s friends and acquaintances still have not been able to get in touch with relatives of the woman.
Ramlagan who was known as Miss Paro had been a popular singer in Suriname and The Netherlands since 2010. She was a single mother who raised a 4-year-old son. Her son reportedly witnessed the deadly shooting. One of Ramlagan’s girlfriends told reporters that the woman moved to The Netherlands about 4 years ago. She was not accompanied by any relatives when she left Suriname for the The Netherlands. The 57-year-old shooter, who was identified as the woman’s neighbour, had often asked her to be his girlfriend but she had said no each time. He had often bothered her and he had often started trouble when she rejected him. Last Friday the neighbour pulled out a gun and shot her dead when she came home with her son. Paro died at the scene of the crime. The police officers from the Rijswijk Police Department suspect the perpetrator of also having attempted to kill three other neighbours.
