Evictions on hold: Residents Baka NIS get more time

PARAMARIBO – The residents of Baka NIS who were facing eviction have reportedly been given more time to collect their belongings and move. They have until December  2024 to leave the area located behind NIS. Vice President Ronnie Brunswijk  announced in his Facebook profile that he managed to find this temporary  solution for them. On June 3rd, 2024 the people were ordered by the court to leave the location which is private property on June 7th. On Wednesday, June 5th, the people went to the VP and presented a petition to him. Brunswijk who at that time was the acting president then managed to get them more time to prepare for their relocation.
