1 suspect arrested

PARAMARIBO – Five gunmen recently robbed a restaurant located in the Mr. Jagernath Lachmonstraat. They reportedly made off with twn thousand American dollars, two hundred thousand Surinamese dollars, jewelry and other goods.
The armed robbers placed a ladder against the building where the restaurant and house are located and entered a bedroom via a window. They then attacked the worker who was sleeping in the bedroom. The worker who had sustained a few injuries was ordered to take the robbers to the bedroom of the woman who runs the restaurant. The armed robbers collected the loot before fleeing the scene. The restaurateur then notified the police of the home invasion and armed robbery. Shortly afterwards the police arrested a suspect who was in possession of money and jewelry. The police also found a gun that had been dumped. It is believed that the gun belonged to one of the robbers. The investigation is ongoing. The remaining perpetrators are still at large.…[+]
