Government does not keep its promise:
“We haven’t received any bread”
After Stichting 1 voor 12 stopped delivering state funded bread to children’s homes and retirement homes on January 1st due to a lack of funds, the government assured the nation that it had taken over this task. But the directors from Huize Campagne and Para Relax Club recently claimed that they haven’t received any bread since January 1st. They also claimed that nobody from the government visited them to ask them how much bread they needed on a daily basis. Now they have to tap their own funds to buy bread for the residents.
The director of Huize Campagne explained that she makes ends meet with the donations that she receives from the community. Without these donations, it would be difficult to put food on the table for the children. “We have to struggle to survive each day. Children need bread every day. One must send the children to school with bread. They can’t focus on the lessons with an empty stomach. I do everything that I can to provide bread to them each and every day. But the costs are weighing heavy especially now that Stichting 1 voor 12 no longer delivers bread.”
The director of the Para Relax Club, a retirement home for senior citizens, also told the same story. She explained that she needs an additional 10 to 12 thousand every month to provide bread to the residents.
