An inmate who was talking on his mobile phone was caught red-handed. Deputy Director of the Justice and Police Ministry’s Offender Care Division, Paulus Pinas, told Times of Suriname that the inmate refused to hand over the mobile phone to the prison guard. The inmate reportedly threatened to kill the prison guard if the door to his cell were going to be opened at that time. The prison guard did not enter the cell but immediately notified his superior.
