PARAMARIBO – Adesh R. who is currently on trial for selling XTC pills told the police that he had received the pills in a box that was sent from the Netherlands to Suriname by one of his cousins. He was reportedly in possession of 4,481 XTC pills at the time of his arrest.

 The defendant also told the police that he would share the profits with his cousin after he had sold all of the XTC pills. He claimed that he initially did not know that the box contained XTC pills. The cousin who had sent the box after the defendant had complained that he was struggling to make ends meet in Suriname told him that he could keep all of the money that he would earn.
