Minister Amoksi wants to buy police helicopters
PARAMARIBO – “The government is thinking about buying two helicopters for the police force to strengthen the fight against the rising crime rate nationwide. This plan that requires an investment of $10 million is currently in the prep phase,” said Justice and Police Minister Kenneth Amoksi. The plans for the purchase of the helicopters for the police force are on the table but all that is missing are the necessary funds. Officials are thinking about buying helicopters from Airbus because it has subsidiaries in the region and also in neighboring Brazil. Minister Amoksi pointed out that he is still looking for the funds needed to carry out this plan. He also pointed out that when the funds become available, it will take about 8 to 14 months for the helicopters will be delivered. “These helicopters are also used in French Guiana. We will look at all of the options,” said Minister Amoksi.
