NICKERIE – The Mungra Medisch Center (MMC) currently does not have a gynaecologist which is why pregnant patients who need a gynaecologist are referred to the gynaecologists who are stationed in Paramaribo. The director at the MMC, Shaista Abdul, explained that a gap popped up when the gynaecologist who was assigned to the MMC decided not to work at the MMC due to personal reasons. She made it clear that she is sparing no efforts in finding a solution.

The MMC is currently looking for a gynaecologist in the nation’s capital so that the women from the Nickerie District would no longer have to travel all the way to Paramaribo. The female patients complained that they have to spend a lot of money on transportation, food and hotels. “We are working with the Ministry of Health and will make an announcement as soon as a gynaecologist is present again in the MMC.”…[+]
