More than 17,000 traffic tickets declared expired

More than 17,000 traffic tickets that were handed out to drivers last year have been declared expired due to mistakes that were made by investigators. Police Commissioner Humphrey Tjin Liep Shie indicated that 46,000  traffic tickets were handed out last year. Most of the traffic violators do not pay the fine immediately which is why the documents are sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Many of the official reports were taken from the pile due to mistakes made by the officer who handed out the traffic ticket.
