MP Huur opts for ABOP instead of PL

ARAMARIBO – MP Miquella Huur who is officially a member of  the

Pertjajah Luhur (PL) faction in parliament recently made it clear that her loyalty lies with the ABOP. After the split between the ABOP and PL it became unclear which party  she would stick to because she was on a joint list when she ran for office. Last Wednesday MP Huur wished everyone a merry Christmas on behalf of the ABOP, thereby revealing which party she had chosen. Her step will undoubtedly widen the gap between the former political allies. This also means that MP Evert Karto is currently the only legislator from the PL while the ABOP has a firm foothold in parliament with 9 legislators by its side.

The chairman of the ABOP who is also the vice president of the republic of Suriname, Ronnie Brunswijk, had previously made it clear that it would be up to Huur to choose a side and that he could not determine her choice.
