JAMAICA – National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCBJ) has announced a collaboration with the Nature Preservation Foundation to sponsor the Bird Garden Gazebo and Garden Space at Hope Gardens in honour of Jamaica’s breast cancer warriors – those who are fighting the disease, survivors, and in remembrance of those who have passed. This collaboration seeks to create a meaningful tribute to breast cancer warriors while also supporting essential services for those affected by breast cancer across Jamaica through donated proceeds, the financial institution said in a release on Thursday.
NCBJ said, through this initiative, 30 per cent of the revenue generated from the rental of the Gazebo will be donated to the Jamaica Cancer Society on NCBJ’s behalf for the next three years. This donation will fund resources and support programmes crucial to breast cancer education, screenings, and patient care, the release stated. Over the coming months, the space will be gradually transformed with pink flowering plants and will serve as a serene and reflective environment. As a symbol of hope, these flowers will honour the journeys of breast cancer warriors and create a space where their stories are both respected and celebrated, the release added.
There was symbolic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Thursday by Christopher Vendryes, Head of Retail at NCB Insurance Agency & Fund Managers Limited (NCBIA), a subsidiary of NCBJ, and Carla Myrie, Executive Director of the Nature Preservation Foundation, at Hope Gardens.
