Police launch campaign against noise pollution

The Geyersvlijt Police Department recently launched a large scale operation against people who are responsible for noise pollution. Police Inspector Ruben Dijks, chief of the Geyersvlijt Precinct, told Times of Suriname that seventeen vehicles were impounded at the parking lot of the Maretraite Mall during the weekend. The modified vehicles will reportedly be reinspected. The police have already removed the speaker boxes from these vehicles. The owners of these vehicles were given a SRD 350 fine for creating a nuisance.  According to Dijks, the speaker boxes made it impossible for the drivers to see traffic that is behind the vehicle. “…[+]
