A prison riot that broke out at the Penitentiaire Inrichting Duisburglaan (PID) state penitentiary left two people injured. Reports indicate that a policeman and an inmate were injured during the prison riot.   The deputy director at the Ministry of Justice and Police, Paulus Pinas told Times of Suriname that a prisoner attacked a policeman with a sharp object. The policeman who sustained a stab wound in his arm defended himself by shooting the prisoner in one of his legs.
